Update<\/strong>: Chair \u2013 3 July 2020<\/p>\n

We apologize for appearing less visible on the webpages recently, but the Forum have remained active and busy.\u00a0\u00a0After David Watts\u2019s death last September, it has been difficult to re-organize and find ways forward.\u00a0\u00a0Many of the most instrumental people in the development of the Plan were happy to remain on board, but justifiably wanted\/needed to step back rather than step forward.<\/p>\n

As 2020 began, our task was to redefine our group and to recruit officers. Following discussions in January and February meetings, we repurposed the Forum with a new constitution and new standing orders.\u00a0\u00a0The previous constitution was for a group whose purpose was to develop the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan; the present one is for a group that will work to monitor the Local Authority’s Development Plan and ensure that the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan is implemented.<\/p>\n

We had an Emergency General Meeting followed by our first Annual General Meeting in March \u2013 with seats spaced well apart – moments before the full lockdown. I was elected Chair, Vice-Chair remains open, although Alan is continuing to fill the role, Maggie remains our secretary, and Treasurer remained Eileen until June when it became Andrew Morrell.<\/p>\n

While we’ve been locked down, the Executive Committee and several active members have been busily working to protect the principles of the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan both publicly and privately.\u00a0 We’ve kept in touch by telephone, email, and Zoom meetings.<\/p>\n

We’ve responded to the Council’s consultation on the five year housing land supply and to some planning applications in Collaton St Mary and in King’s Ash.\u00a0 Next on the list is the Clennon Valley application.<\/p>\n

As always, we welcome your involvement if you are willing to help out.\u00a0 Reviewing planning applications to see if they are important for us to address is an essential task – and many hands make light work!\u00a0 Please contact us if you think you might be able to help in some way.\u00a0 If you have knowledge of the planning process, that is wonderful — but no prior knowledge is required.<\/p>\n

Update:<\/strong> Chairman – 17 July 2019<\/p>\n

A revised Agenda<\/strong> has been issued for the Forum meeting tomorrow (18 July 2019) which adds the proposed disposal of land at Little Blagdon Farm, Cillaton St. Mary and Preston Down Road<\/strong>. \u00a0The report and letter sent are available to read before the meeting on the ‘Calandar’ and ‘Downloads’ page.<\/p>\n

Update:<\/strong> Chairman – 14 July 2019<\/p>\n

The Agenda papers for our next Forum meeting on 18 July 2019<\/strong>\u00a0are today available to view on\u00a0the ‘Calendar’ page and ‘Downloads’ page. \u00a0They include receiving a presentation by Stride Treglowan of proposed changes to Tower House School in Fisher Street, and the objection submitted to proposed development of up to 73 dwellings by Taylor Wimpey at Totnes Road, Collaton St Mary.<\/p>\n

The Agenda papers for our next Forum meeting on 9 May 2019<\/strong>\u00a0are today available to view on\u00a0the ‘Calendar’ page and ‘Downloads’ page. \u00a0They include the successful ‘Yes’ vote<\/strong>\u00a0summary for all 3 Neighbourhood Plans; Local Election results and next steps for the Forum, including Executive Committee elections now the Neighbourhood Plan result is known. \u00a0Proposals by Bloor Homes at Collaton St Mary will be discussed and a presentation received from Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust.<\/p>\n

Update:<\/strong> Chairman – 3 May 2019<\/p>\n

A very big ‘thank you’ to more than 10,000 voters in our community who voted ‘Yes’ to the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan becoming a statutory plan for our town. \u00a0Congratulations also to Torquay and Brixham for achieving a ‘Yes’ vote as well. \u00a0This means well over 30,000 residents in Torbay have given clear support for the 3 plans collectively. \u00a0A much larger show of support than for any other plans ever produced for our three towns. \u00a0A truely historic outcome.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Update:<\/strong> Chairman – 30 April 2019<\/p>\n

If you are a registered voter in Paignton, please don’t forget to vote “Yes”<\/strong>\u00a0on 2nd May 2019 Polling Day to our Paignton Neighbourhood Plan being used by Torbay Council when deciding future planning applications in Paignton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
