{"id":322,"date":"2012-04-25T10:35:51","date_gmt":"2012-04-25T10:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paigntonneighbourhoodplan.org.uk\/?page_id=322"},"modified":"2020-07-06T09:16:57","modified_gmt":"2020-07-06T08:16:57","slug":"latest","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.paigntonneighbourhoodplan.org.uk\/?page_id=322","title":{"rendered":"Latest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Update<\/strong>: Chair \u2013 3 July 2020<\/p>\n<p>We apologize for appearing less visible on the webpages recently, but the Forum have remained active and busy.\u00a0\u00a0After David Watts\u2019s death last September, it has been difficult to re-organize and find ways forward.\u00a0\u00a0Many of the most instrumental people in the development of the Plan were happy to remain on board, but justifiably wanted\/needed to step back rather than step forward.<\/p>\n<p>As 2020 began, our task was to redefine our group and to recruit officers. Following discussions in January and February meetings, we repurposed the Forum with a new constitution and new standing orders.\u00a0\u00a0The previous constitution was for a group whose purpose was to develop the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan; the present one is for a group that will work to monitor the Local Authority&#8217;s Development Plan and ensure that the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan is implemented.<\/p>\n<p>We had an Emergency General Meeting followed by our first Annual General Meeting in March \u2013 with seats spaced well apart &#8211; moments before the full lockdown. I was elected Chair, Vice-Chair remains open, although Alan is continuing to fill the role, Maggie remains our secretary, and Treasurer remained Eileen until June when it became Andrew Morrell.<\/p>\n<p>While we&#8217;ve been locked down, the Executive Committee and several active members have been busily working to protect the principles of the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan both publicly and privately.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve kept in touch by telephone, email, and Zoom meetings.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve responded to the Council&#8217;s consultation on the five year housing land supply and to some planning applications in Collaton St Mary and in King&#8217;s Ash.\u00a0 Next on the list is the Clennon Valley application.<\/p>\n<p>As always, we welcome your involvement if you are willing to help out.\u00a0 Reviewing planning applications to see if they are important for us to address is an essential task &#8211; and many hands make light work!\u00a0 Please contact us if you think you might be able to help in some way.\u00a0 If you have knowledge of the planning process, that is wonderful &#8212; but no prior knowledge is required.<\/p>\n<p><em>Catherine Fritz<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Chairman &#8211; 3 May 2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>A very big &#8216;thank you&#8217; to more than 10,000 voters in our community who voted &#8216;Yes&#8217; to the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan becoming a statutory plan for our town. \u00a0Congratulations also to Torquay and Brixham for achieving a &#8216;Yes&#8217; vote as well. \u00a0This means well over 30,000 residents in Torbay have given clear support for the 3 plans collectively. \u00a0A much larger show of support than for any other plans ever produced for our three towns. \u00a0A truely historic outcome.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Chairman &#8211; At the public meeting held on 1st May by the Friends of Victoria Park, the clear view was expressed that\u00a0Victoria Park should be protected and not\u00a0identified as an alternative\u00a0site\u00a0for retail development.\u00a0\u00a0 As promised, this view will\u00a0also be presented to the public meeting of the Neighbourhood Plan Forum when it\u00a0next meets at 6:30pm on 24th May 2012 at Paignton Rugby Club.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> (Chairman) &#8211; 29th April 2012<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Stage 1 &#8220;SWOTS&#8221; are nearing completion:<\/strong> &#8211; A big thank you to everyone who has taken part in the meetings across the plan area to identify Paignton&#8217;s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOTS). The results from each area are very important for two reasons. First, they have not been restricted to being able to give views about someone else&#8217;s proposals. Second, they show where needs and opportunities are important to us all in our community.<\/p>\n<p>So what happens next ? The results are being brought together by volunteers in our community to convert them into Aims and Objectives and development of proposals to put into a single document for the next stage. In short &#8220;This is what you said&#8221; and &#8220;This is what is proposed&#8221;. From the results so far, Stage 2 will be looking more closely at issues and opportunities in two main areas &#8211; the Town Centre, and the western side of Paignton. It will take about three months to do this.
