Previous office holders are happy to provide support, but we believe that Paignton will benefit most from rotating officers so that more people \u2013 and more ideas \u2013 are at the centre of the Forum.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\nCatherine Fritz, previous Chair, said \u201cOfficers of the Forum have great opportunities to learn more about what influences development in Paignton and to have a voice, on<br \/>\nbehalf of the community, in those decisions.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\u201cNow is a perfect time for people \u2013 of any age or group \u2013 to take control of the final steps in refreshing the Neighbourhood Plan and to lead it into referendum next May. If<br \/>\nyou want a voice in how Paignton develops, here\u2019s your chance.\u201d<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\nThe Forum has four main roles:<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n&#8211; Refreshing the Neighbourhood Plan \u2013 the important legal document that protects local green spaces as well as the local landscapes and environment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n&#8211; Monitoring development, ensuring that the Neighbourhood Plan is enforced so that Paignton retains amenities and develops appropriate housing in appropriate<br \/>\nplaces<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n&#8211; Accepting and reviewing applications for funding from community groups \u2013 and recommending where the funds earmarked for Paignton (about \u00a3150,000 at this<br \/>\ntime!) should be awarded.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n&#8211; Working with the other Neighbourhood Forums in Torbay (Torquay, Brixham, and Broadsands, Churston &amp; Galmpton) and with the Council with respect to development across the bay.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\nNo special knowledge is required: A highly qualified consultant will do the technical and support work, consulting you (and the Forum) as needed.
